There are six Probus Clubs in the Perth Area, each catering for retired professional gentlemen and businessmen, aged 60 plus. They hold regular meetings at which they hear an invited speaker and deal with club affairs. The clubs have no political or religious affiliations and are not generally involved directly in charitable activities. The clubs do however vary in the scope of the social, sporting and other activities organised for the benefit of their members.

Fair City Probus was started in 1990. It was founded on the basis of the following principles.

  • Numbers would be limited to 60 so that everyone could know everyone else and the formation of cliques would be discouraged.
  • The Club would promote an extensive range of activities for members.
  • Participation of partners in social activities would be encouraged.
  • Club members would give mutual support to fellow members.

Fair City Probus has been very successful over the years in sustaining these ideals. To ensure we continue to flourish, we look to fill vacancies with new members who have the time, and an interest in taking advantage of the opportunities on offer, and help with the running of the club.

Activities currently undertaken are golf, bowls, walking, gardening, and lunching. Social activities include two annual outings, two outside visits, an annual dinner, a social evening and a Christmas lunch.

The Club is run by a committee of 8 members, serving for two years each.

There is no strict dress code, but a collar and tie are expected at meetings, Christmas lunch and the annual dinner.
